NEW PROJECT
Custom Theater, Media Room, Whole House Music

Dear Friends & Clients,

Click for larger image. My name is Cooper and I'm one of the System Designers at Georgia Home Theater.  I was asked to tell you about one of the projects we just completed that I headed up.  This project recently came together from a client seeking assistance with a basement build-out; he wanted a high-end theater room, a separate media room for less formal viewing, and music with an array of sources in various rooms on different levels of the house while maintaining an ease of control.

Main Theater Details

The client was interested in a formal and classy theater room where the emphasis was on the design of the room and not seeing speakers everywhere. We designed a room with the equipment in a custom built Middle Atlantic rack in the back of Click for larger image.the room and architecturally placed Bower’s and Wilkins speakers behind the acoustic paneling. The room was pulled together with a simple-to-use Universal touch screen remote.

Some of the equipment used for this project include a Marantz projector, Rotel Separate Components for the amplification and processing, speakers by B&W, control by Universal, and light dimming by Lutron.

Media Room Details

Click for larger image. The client also wanted an area where guests could watch or listen to a good system in a more open setting; again, the customer wanted to take a ‘less is more’ approach to the equipment. In this room, we went with a 60” Pioneer plasma and had motorized “drop down” ceiling speakers that could be aimed for ideal sound while in use, and recessed when not in use to remain out of site. Again, we used a simple RF remote to allow the customer to control the equipment hidden in cabinets.

The components used in this room include a Pioneer Elite Plasma, Audio/Video Receiver from Marantz, and motorized drop-down speakers from SpeakerCraft.

Whole House Music Details

Finally, the client wanted to have music in his new basement as well as existing rooms in his house. He wanted a variety of sources in central areas that would be easy to control. We designed a system that had LCD display keypads (with feedback) in key areas and simple button controlled keypads in the remaining areas allowing the customer to directly select specific radio stations from his tuner, certain playlists off his IPOD, or even a particular genre of music off his jukebox.

Components that were used for the whole house music included a SpeakerCraft 6-Zone 6-Source multi-zone amplifier control system, music server, Ipod Doc, and B&W ceiling speakers.

If you would like to discuss a project you have in mind for your home or if you would like to see the changes and new technology that we have been adding to our showroom, please stop by for a visit.

All the best,

Cooper Etheridge
